Hi Pharmacists!

As part of our advertising campaign we are sending community interest pieces to newspapers across BC! Part of our media package involves a handful of quotes that an editor can put into the article. These quotes need to be from pharmacists, researchers, or physicians.

If you have a good reason for pregnant and breastfeeding women to come to your in-pharmacy clinics or if you can tell us why it’s so important to have prescription safety and efficacy managed by a pharmacist, then put it into a quote. You can make up a quote about almost anything and you might get your name in the local paper! Post your quotes here or email me privately!

Our new initiative for increased patient involvement is in-pharmacy health clinics.

If your pharmacy is interested in attracting patients for weekly, bimonthly, or monthly clinics at your pharmacy, contact researchers at UBC CORE!

Advantages to hosting health clinics through this study:

Patient packages with samples, information, and free movie tickets are provided by UBC CORE
Advertising your pharmacy’s helath clinics will be handled by UBC CORE (newspapers, radio, and postering)
Vancouver pharmacies will be offered a dietician during clinic hours (for the pregnancy and breastfeeding study)
Vancouver pharmacies will be offered a physiotherapist and dieticin during clinic hours (for the DMARD study)
Build long-lasting relationships with clientele through these services

Edmonton arm of DMARD study

Hello Pharmacists!

The DMARD study is finally under way- we have started patient enrolment in BC and our Rexall partners in Alberta completed their in-person training session on Tuesday Jan 11.

The Edmonton pharmacists were engaged during the training session and had some great ideas for improving our case finding ability. Some of our new ideas include:

RA clinics- health clinics offered to the general public to answer questions and provide guidance on topics surrounding RA.

Newsletter- for all participating pharmacists to be kept up to date on the progress of the study.

Introductory letter to physicians- for pharmacists to send to family doctors outlining the study.

Advertising the study on arthritis resource websites.

Great work, Edmonton! We look forward to working with you in the coming months!

DMARD Study Update

Some hardworking pharmacists have referred our first 3 patients for RA physiotherapy assessment!

One of the patients enrolled in the study has been suffering with advanced RA and only receiving NSAIDs to manage pain! These patients are out there and we need to get them the right medications to more effectively manage their chronic conditions.

Remuneration for Pharmacists in the Pregnant and Breastfeeding Study!

Hi Pharmacists,

We have just been approved to offer $50.00 remuneration to every pharmacist that recruits 10 pregnant or breastfeeding patients for our study! We already have a pharmacist that has reached this goal and many more close behind!

We also have new patient packages featuring:

free diaper
free diaper rash cream
coupons
literature on pre and post-natal health
tips for successful breastfeeding
one adult admission to a Cineplex/Odeon theatre

These patient packages are only available for the next 50 patients. If they prove to be a success we will extend this offer to the next 500 patients. Please contact Jamie if you would like to receive some of these packages.
